"Perfectionism is slow death." Hugh Prather

Do you believe that perfection will make you happy? Do you subject others to your ridiculous standards? Do you "do nothing" because it won't be perfect? This blog is in dedication to the ridiculous lengths I go to in search for perfection, and the insanity I encounter along the way.

OohLaLa

It has come to my attention, yet again, that certain friends, who I will not sully their reputation here, have been holding out on beauty products (ladies, I can only protect you so long).  This, after 40, is just NOT done.  Where is my Miss Manners book.. So, because I am a girls GUUURL! I am going to keep a running tab of products that I tirelessly put in my Evernotes on this blog.  If something is NOT recommended, I will share that too!  If you have favorites, be sure to comment and I will Road Test them too!
YouTube is a GREAT resource for tips on how to do, just about anything!  This chick has some good tutorials, but be forewarned, she is...young...well, and bit vacuous and her bangs are too long (you'll understand when you watch her), but she knows hair and makeup techniques!  Great for you ladies with daughters who want to start wearing makeup and you are not prone to wear it.  Otherwise, trust me, it will be WAR when she decides to do it herself and looks like a raccoon with axle grease on her lips.  Now I KNOW I sound like my mother, but she was right!!   At some point I may catalog better, but for now, typing into this blog is about all I am capable of technically at this point.

These picks came mostly from Real Simple and probably Good Housekeeping, maybe Allure.  Not exactly Maxim, but those magazines are not for real women or housewives.  I want products I can actually buy, at a store.  OK, some of these pics are on-line, but they are $4!

FIRST A WORD ABOUT BRUSHES.  They help, even with the cheapest makeup, invest in good tools ladies.  Don't try to bang a nail with the bottom of your heels!  At the very least, these are my picks Foundation BrushEye Liner Brush, and Contour Brush.  MAC and  Bobbi Brown are what I use,  Share your favorites!

NAILS
WARNING! Do not use the OPI Gel for nails at your salon if you have just taken off acrylics.  It is expensive and won't last 2 days!  It chips very easily on soft nails.  I would recommend you use Perfect Formula first until trauma has grown out.  I know, I know, I am in nail hell as we speak.  If you are in an area that has a salon that does CalGel Nails, this is a superior product.  Nearest one to me is Austin!  Crap.

RIMMEL 60 Second Nails drugstores

SONIA KASHUK Lacqer in Tauped $5 Target

EYES
COVERGIRL LiquidlineBlast Eyeliner $8 drugstores

MAYBELLINE Falsies by Volum Express mascara in Very Black $8 drugstores
WARNING does not come off well with just soap and water, but REALLy delivers, unless your eyelashes don't exist and will therefor only amplify this sad fact :(

AVON Youth Awakening Shadow and Primer $12 Avon A must for greasy lids!!

FACE

WET N WILD Fresh Effects Tinted Moisturizer drugstores, but apparently not our Walmart

SONIA KASHUK Creme Blush in Petal Target

CLARISONIC this is a very expensive electronic buffing brush for washing your face, it is supposed to clean pores, minimize fine line etc. etc.  I bought OLAY Pro-X Advanced Cleaning System at Walmart as it got good reviews to see if it was worth a bigger investment.  There are no instructions, and I had to use a butter knife to open and get batteries in, but I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and like it.  Moisturizer works better and makeup looks much nicer.  Eh, up to you and your budget.
